What it is. And what arrives.

Mercado Pago Checkout Pro for one-off purchases, and real recurring billing for plans.

Mercado Pago is the payment gateway that actually converts in Latin America, and this extension wires up both halves of it properly. Prepaid credit packs and lifetime purchases go through a Checkout Pro preference; recurring plans go through a preapproval, which is Mercado Pago's real subscription primitive — monthly or annual, taken from the plan's own payment frequency, charged automatically at every cycle and cancellable from inside your platform. Whichever payment methods your Mercado Pago account has enabled appear on the hosted checkout: cards with installments, Pix, boleto, cash vouchers and Mercado Pago account balance.

Reconciliation is where a Latin American gateway either works or quietly loses money, because Pix and boleto do not settle while the buyer is still on your site. So a pending payment record is written before the redirect, the checkout preference is created with an idempotency key, and the browser is never trusted: on return the payment is re-fetched from the API and only an approved status provisions anything. A payment sitting at pending or in-process shows the buyer an honest "being processed" message and hands the job to the webhook. That webhook verifies Mercado Pago's HMAC-SHA256 signature over its own manifest of resource id, request id and timestamp, understands both the current and legacy notification formats, and de-duplicates repeat deliveries for six hours. Three topics are handled: payments, preapproval status changes and authorised subscription charges. Preapproval state maps directly onto your subscriber records — authorised becomes active with the correct expiry, paused becomes suspended, cancelled strips plan access — and each renewal charge writes its own payment record and re-applies plan credits, guarded against duplicates by the Mercado Pago payment id.

Key features

  • Both flows implemented — Checkout Pro preferences for one-off purchases, preapprovals for recurring plans.
  • Local payment methods — cards with installments, Pix, boleto, cash vouchers and Mercado Pago balance, straight from your account configuration.
  • True recurring billing — monthly or annual cycles read from the plan, renewals credited automatically, cancellation pushed back to Mercado Pago.
  • HMAC-SHA256 webhook verification — signatures checked against Mercado Pago's manifest format, invalid deliveries rejected with a 401.
  • Idempotent end to end — an idempotency key on preference creation, a six-hour delivery de-duplication gate, and provisioning that exits early on an already-completed order.
  • Delayed methods handled — pending and in-process payments resolve later via webhook instead of being lost or double-credited.
  • Full subscription lifecycle — authorised, paused and cancelled preapprovals map onto active, suspended and cancelled subscribers with plan access revoked.
  • Legacy and current formats — both notification shapes and both GET and POST callbacks are accepted.
  • Sandbox and production — environment select, with sandbox checkout links used automatically when testing.
  • Clean bank statements — the statement descriptor is set from your own application name.

Powered by

Powered by Mercado Pago. Mercado Pago owns the checkout, the local payment methods, installment offers and settlement across Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru and Uruguay. You add a server-side access token and a webhook signature key — plus an optional public key if you want the frontend Bricks components — and the extension takes care of preferences, preapprovals, verification and provisioning.

Ideal for

  • Platforms selling into Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Chile, Colombia, Peru or Uruguay.
  • Operators who lose sales without Pix or boleto at checkout.
  • Anyone whose buyers expect to pay a subscription in installments.
  • SaaS businesses that need recurring billing in local currency rather than USD.
