AI Realtime Chat upgrades the chat experience from typing to talking. Rather than record-then-send, the browser holds a live session and the conversation flows naturally in both directions. Admins choose the default voice from eight options — alloy, ash, ballad, coral, echo, sage, shimmer and verse — and set the default realtime model.
The security design is worth noting: the browser needs a credential to hold a live connection, so the server mints a short-lived ephemeral session key instead of exposing your real API key to the client. Both sides of the conversation are transcribed into the user's normal chat history and billed by input and output tokens, which means a spoken session leaves the same searchable record as a typed one and shows up in the same balance — no parallel bookkeeping. Personal user-supplied keys and pooled key rotation are both supported, and access is gated by a feature switch, a free-tier toggle and a per-plan flag.
